Olympic Presence

Grace McCallum was an energetic 4-year-old. “We happened to live a minute away from a gym, so my parents put me in a gymnastics class, and it took off from there,” says McCallum. And by that, she means eventually landing a spot on the U.S. gymnastics 2020 Olympic team and helping bring home silver. A four-year member of the USA Gymnastics national team, she is also a two-time World Championships gold medal winner as part of Team USA. Last fall, during her first semester at the U, she took online classes while traversing the country as part of the Gold Over America Tour.

She’s bringing her experience and energy to the Huntsman Center as she and all our Red Rocks seek to top their most recent, third-place finish last year in the NCAA championships. “In the gymnastics world, the U is so well known,” she adds. “When I came here for a visit, I just knew it was the right place for me.”

  1. So proud to have Grace McCallum at my alma mater! and to have the U program following in the footsteps of Greg Marsden! (He had U students in my general exercise class doing back flips in 10 weeks!)
